Legislation
The Legislation Committee of the Association of Municipal Administrators of New
Brunswick shall consist of a maximum of 5 people. It shall meet as circumstances
require and shall report to the Board of Directors.
At the request of the Board of Directors, or on its own initiative, the Committee
shall: 1.Review any or all of the existing by-laws of the Association and make
recommendations for the replacement, amendment, deletion or reconstruction
as circumstances may require;
2.Propose new by-laws or suggest matters within its mandate which the Association
should consider for regulation;
3.Liaise with the Board of Directors and the Department of Municipalities and
Housing, the Legislative Assembly and other Departments as may be necessary
to:
a)suggest new legislation (statute or regulation) which may be deemed by the
Association to be appropriate;
b)review draft legislation which may be relevant to the Association or its
members;
c)respond to draft legislation, position papers or new acts of the Provincial
Government which may be relevant to the Association or its members;
d)make recommendations on the amendment or repeal of existing legislation;
e)alert the Board to the ramifications of proposed or existing legislation
and, if required, to consider appropriate alternatives.
