Ride the Wave

Ride the wave of change ~ so you don't find yourself beneath it

Ride the Wave Theme

The Association of Municipal Administrators of New Brunswick 2012 Conference is focused on the theme of addressing changing times.

As Confucius pointed out  “If you’re not riding the wave of change, you’ll find yourself beneath it”.  This year’s AMANB Ride the Wave theme was chosen in recognition of today’s rapidly changing pace in municipal government.  The Province of New Brunswick’s undertaking of a broad range of actions to create a new Local Governance System will change the face of municipal service delivery, present opportunities and create challenges. Changing times require new skills and new approaches.  This year’s Conference has been programmed to provide insight and methodologies to address changing times in local governance, and to adapt, or ride the wave to changes beyond our control.

As we look to the future, we must consider the broader and longer line of sight, the network leadership, the requirement of strong analysis and communication skills and the global perspective of where we are and where we are going.  Like a surfer, knowing  when the wave comes, when to start paddling in the direction of the wave and when it is time to stand up and ride the wave is what it is all about.
